V-Surfs™ - face-to-face usability interviews
If you need to assess the usability, functionality or content of your website, then the solution is V-Surfs™; individual accompanied surfing depth interviews carried out by experienced qualitative internet researchers. V-Surf™ interviews typically last around 60 minutes, and incorporate periods of discussion and observation (task setting).
Reasons for using this Virtual Surveys technique include:
- Proven method; we pioneered this method in the UK, harnessing 'surfing labs' and 'picture-in-picture' recording technology
- Our research expertise; our consultants are qualitative researchers who provide in-depth and expert results interpretation
- Flexibility; we have experience of testing websites at all stages of the development process, from wireframes and concept boards to live websites
V-Surf Remotes™ - telephone usability interviews
There are instances when recruiting respondents to conduct face-to-face usability is not possible, namely:
- When respondents are too geographically spread, and reaching them would be too expensive
- When respondents are unwilling to talk face-to-face (e.g. senior business respondents)
- When researching sensitive subject matter, respondents often prefer not to talk face-to-face
- When wanting to conduct a large number of interviews, face-to-face interviewing can be too expensive
For occasions such as these, Virtual Surveys has developed V-Surf Remote™. The approach enables us to:
- Speak to respondents over the telephone whilst viewing their computer screen from our office. Thus the respondent surfs a website from their own home/office whilst we view their PC screen from our office
- Record both the respondent's PC screen and the telephone conversation simultaneously, allowing us to later analyse the interviews in more detail
